Thank you so much to HarperCollinsCanada for sending me an ARC of Dear Wife by Kimberly Belle! This amazing new thriller by the bestselling author of Three Days Missing and The Marriage Lie comes out June 25, which is TOMORROW! (I’ve already seen finished copies available early in stores near me 😉) Do not hesitate to snag a copy, this is NOT a book to be missed out on!
I don’t even know where to start, this book was SO GOOD. So so good. I remember when I first picked up this book, I was like “okay, I’ll read a couple chapters just to start it off and then go to sleep.” That is not at all what happened. I was HOOKED. I easily flew through a few chapters before prying myself away from the book to sleep.
The more I read, the more confused I got. Things weren’t adding up. And then it hit me when I was halfway through. I came up with this wild theory but I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how it could fit into the story. Until it did. I was trying to solve the mystery in my head at the same time that it was unraveling before me in the book and it drove me half mad.
Kimberly Belle, you are a genius. You pieced this story together so well! I was on the edge of my seat for most of the book and once I hit that halfway point, I was going crazy with the need to finish it right THEN and THERE so I knew how it ended. The second half of the book was full of plot twists and had me holding my breath until the very last word!
Luckily for me, I had a friend there who was completely on board and freaked out with me while I explained the story and what I thought would happen as I was reading it! Even now, just thinking about it hypes me up ALL OVER AGAIN.
While there were a few questions that hadn’t been answered by the end of the book which I wish had been better explained, it didn’t take away from how amazing the story was as a whole.
The character development especially was so well done. It made this whole story what it was. Two characters in particular, our villain in this story and the main character, Beth, were incredibly well developed. Their thoughts were what made this book so hooking and refused to let you turn away for even a second. Right till the end, they kept changing and evolving, which is ideally what happens in a good book and certainly happened in this one.
