So I FINALLY hopped onto the train with this trilogy and from the get-go, I can tell you that I’ve been getting MAJOR Alice in Wonderland vibes and I. Love. It. The idea at the base of this story is already so intriguing!
One of the things that I have to mention about Stephanie Garber that I’m already loving about her writing is that she has a very visual way of putting her words down. She incorporates LOTS of colours of all different shades and emotions and TEXTURES EVEN! I don’t know how to really explain it, but I promise you it’s so so wondrous and it fits so well with the fantasy world she’s created! Her words burst at the seams with colours!
This book is literally filled with so many moments where you just pause and are like “OR IS IT?” There is so much intrigue and you’re constantly second-guessing yourself. Constantly. Like, you really should’ve listened to the warning they give before you enter Caraval 😉
I’m not sure if I’m the only one, but Tella’s character annoyed me SO MUCH in this book on multiple occasions 😂 I think it’s because I had a hard time understanding her perspective on things? But by the end, I didn’t mind her too much because of a certain reason 😏
Speaking of the end, I WISH IT HAD BEEN A LITTLE LONGER. I won’t say why, because, y’know, spoilers 😂 But I wanted a little more of a certain scene before we cut to the part of the ending that was going to lead us into the second book.
Stephanie Garber really has such a big imagination to have come up with this series and I truly admire it so much. The thought put into the book is so evident and I love it! I like that it highlighted a relationship between sisters above all else. That’s something that was really refreshing to see.
While some of the plot twists in this book were a little easy to predict for me, I did still thoroughly enjoy them! They were written in such a way that even though you knew what was going to happen, you couldn’t help but react!
I can’t wait to see what happens next in Legendary and where this story will go! It was left on quite an interesting note and it’s made me realise there is so much that we don’t know and have yet to discover 😏 It seems to me like the fun has just begun.
