Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

I now know for a fact that I started things off wrong by picking up the Six of Crows duology first, because I’ve run into Genya and Zoya in this book and while I don’t remember them much from the brief glance we got at them in Crooked Kingdom, I remember enough to be extremely confused. Why didn’t I do proper research first? 😓 I could’ve read these books first.

But ANYWAY, I’m really loving this trilogy so far! This whole world that Bardugo came up with is simply genius. I always have a lot of admiration for authors who somehow seem to come up with whole different worlds from scratch and still make us feel like it’s somewhere we’ve been or could go. (Does that even make sense?) I guess what I’m trying to say is that even though this place doesn’t exist, it feels it could.

I don’t know if I’m the only one who felt this way, but Mal’s character kind of got on my nerves at some points in the book 😶 But then the Darkling outbeat him at that game by being even more irritating.

I have so many questions about what’s going to happen next, especially since I’m in this weird situation where I’ve seen fanart, I’ve heard of characters who are going to at some point appear in the books and I’m just waiting for all of that to click together 😂 I can’t un-know all of that stuff either, which is a bit frustrating. It muddles with my head.

I can’t wait to see where the series goes from here!
